The Association for Library Service to Children recently released Great Early Elementary Reads, which features recommended book titles for beginning readers.

The updated list is organized into two categories: "Starting to Read" and "Reading on My Own." It includes books published between 2009 and 2011. However, many of the titles are part of a larger series that young readers also will enjoy.
