The health care exchange
is now accepting applications from those interested in purchasing insurance. As part of the Affordable Health Care Act, U.S. citizens and legal residents will be required to have qualifying health coverage
by January 1, 2014.
Ohio residents use the federal exchange to purchase health insurance at Healthcare.gov. Assistance also is available by calling the toll-free number 1-800-318-2596.
In order to have their health insurance begin January 1, 2014, residents must enroll by mid-December. The open enrollment period is scheduled to close March 31, 2014.
The Department of Health & Human Services also has provided a tip sheet on ways to protect yourself from fraud in the Health Insurance Marketplace.
