Clinton County Reads 2024
Active ImageHomelessness continues to be a concern in this area as well as throughout the United States, which makes the 2024 Clinton County Reads selection so important.

We invite everyone to read Tracy Kidder's Rough Sleepers and come together to participate in this year's event.

A New York Times bestseller and a 2023 NPR Best Book of the Year, Rough Sleepers is the inspiring story of Dr. Jim O'Connell, who created a community of care for Boston's unhoused population, including thoe who sleep on the streets, the "rough sleepers."

The 19th annual event kicks off with What Caring Requires, at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 18, at the Wilmington Public Library. The panel discussion will include Dr. Craig Stafford, Hannah Lutz, and Will Sandlin, all who work on behalf of Clinton County's homeless population. The month-long event features book discussions and programs at all of the county's public libraries. The closing dinner takes place at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 18 at the Wilmington Municipal Building Community Room and is catered by Chef Jen Purkey. The dinner features a presentation by storyteller-nurse Nicole Ruttencutter.

Copies of the book are available at all of the county's sponsoring libraries and bookseller.

Clinton County Reads is sponsored by the Blanchester Public Library, Sabina Public Library, Wilmington Public Library, and Books 'N More.
