Charlotte's Web took the No. 1 spot among the 100 Greatest Books for Kids chosen by Scholastic's Parent & Child Magazine.

The classic book by E. B. White, celebrating its 60th anniversary, is "not only a treasured must of childhood (and a perennial Top Ten best-seller), but a Number One inspiration."

The 100 Greatest Books list is featured in the March issue of Parent & Child Magazine to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Read Across America Day (March 2), and the editors explain their composition of the list here.

Rounding out the Top 10 are: Goodnight Moon, A Wrinkle in Time, The Snowy Day, Where the Wild Things Are, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Green Eggs and Ham, The Diary of a Young Girl, The Giving Tree, and Frog and Toad are Friends.
